Back Home

Well, we made it back to Havasu Thursday afternoon.  It's good to be home and not living out of suitcases anymore, but we miss everyone!!  It's hard to believe that summer's almost over for us :(    It went by WAY too fast!  Tyler goes back to work this Tuesday and the kids start back next Monday.

Here are a few pics of our family reunion in Colorado and of our trip home.

On our way to CO, we stopped at Royal Gorge. The bottom was soooo far down!!

Then we stopped in a small town called Salida for lunch.  We went to a school playground so the kids could play while I fed Ryder.  As I was finishing up with changing his diaper I heard some commotion outside so I glanced over to the left and there was a deer about 30 feet away from the car!  Tyler took off after it to get some pictures:

I spy the deer in this pic, can you find it?

For my family's reunion we all stayed in a vacation cabin.  There was a pond and a creek and with that came a TON of mosquitoes!!  One of the highlights of the reunion was when we played Minute to Win It.  It was the most fun to watch people try the "move the cookie down your face and into your mouth without touching it" challenge. It was pretty funny :)

We took our time on the way home.  We drove through Southwest Colorado to Four Corners and then down through Northeast, AZ.  We saw some beautiful scenery that made us miss the mountains, grass, and trees A LOT!!

We stayed the night in a little place called Tuba City right in the middle of Navajo Nation.  We went swimming and had a way less than satisfactory dinner at Denny's.  We would have been better off just going to McDonald's, but the pool and hot tub were fun :)  We had the four older boys sleep sideways on one of the queen beds so they would all fit.  Poor Taylor- his legs were hanging off the edge of the bed a little because he's been doing a little too much growing lately.

Thursday morning we stopped in Flagstaff at Target to do some shopping.  While we were there a pretty good rainstorm passed through.  The rain smelled so good and refreshing. When we got home our house was soooo hot! It took all afternoon with the air conditioner running non-stop to get it cooled down to a comfortable temperature. It is good to be home in our own space and getting back into somewhat of a routine. We had an awesome vacation and are so thankful we're able to visit our families for a while each summer :)

Well, I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures. I tried to post pictures that were different than the ones everyone else already posted, so that's why I didn't post the 320 that Dan took.

LOVE this one!
And I LOVE that this top picture they are cute happy boys and then in the bottom picture they are trying to act all tough... I like the top picture best! :)

There's room for someone to photoshop Corey, Em, and Daph between Dan and Kristie... :) Someone get on that!

I also posted many pictures on my personal blog if you so desire to see any more! :)

But in other news, this week has been good. I have been nesting so I organized everything in our apartment. and maybe I have already reorganized what I organized! :) But it feels good to get all the baby things washed and set up, all the clothes organized, and all the last minute things done before SJR comes along. We sold quite a bit of stuff and have made room for a bassinet in our room. Our apartment is about to get incredibly smaller, but I can't wait!!!
I also had a birthday this weekend. Summer is such a birthday time that it feels like that's all we have been doing lately! But dan made it really fun and mom watched stori while she was "napping" so we could go eat lunch and robe/grocery shop. Dan also had mom bake me one of the only cakes that I like! Thanks mom! Oh, and we were suppose to go to SLC for Tracen and Melissa and Grover's sealing, but sadly it didn't work out---Dan knew I was bummed so he took me to jackson for my bday! It was splendid! Miss everyone and hope everyone posts! :)

Crazyness in the yellow house

This week can be summed up by getting up around 6:00, working for two hours, working on the house, going to town to get supplies, hope the kids can get food for themselves and not stopping until midnight. Yes, we found out that even though we have three weeks until our closing date, everything has to be done by Saturday. ONE WEEK! We have masked, primed, painted, painted some more, hung doors, tiled, flooring, trimmed....! Not done with one single thing except masking and hanging doors. We tried to be done with painting last night but it got dark and then we ran out of paint with about 10 square feet to go! Tomorrow we are on to grouting, shingling, trim and hopefully finishing the flooring in the boys room. Anyone want to come? We have so much fun! :) One last thought. Why do people have such strong reactions to a yellow house? For crying out loud it isn't orange or purple! It is just a yellow house. Some people really LOVE it and then I have to hear comments like "My husband said 'Why did they side it with yellow'?" and three people have told me, "It is just so Megan". I am really not a person who cares what others think, but I also don't want to hear it. That is why I never told people what names I was going to name my kids. I didn't care what their opinion was, what they had to say about it, and didn't want to hear it. But, once you side your house, the secret is out and people want to tell you their opinion. I absolutely love it and couldn't be happier with the color but am shocked at the strong feelings toward the cheerful little color! Shocked, really, that people care so much about a color of house that isn't theirs. Just a little interesting tidbit for the week! Love you all!
P.S. only one egg hatched. Chicky Wicky is the name. He acts like no chicken I have ever seen. Instead of trying to get away from humans it chirps until we walk over to the brooder and then runs to us with his/her little wings flapping. The thing loves to be held and I always think of the book "are you my mother?" when I pick it up. I think it is very, sadly, confused.
