Peterson update

This weeks exciting news...

I was a chaperone on Maizy's field trip on Thursday. I forgot my coat and it was cold and raining and I was freezing. We were in Smithfield and Joel called me from his cell phone which he doesn't do at work since he has crappy reception. I answered it and walked away from the kids. He asked if I was on the field trip and when I told him yes he said to call him later. I asked if something was wrong and when he hesitated I said "Did you get laid off?" He said "I did". Wow. That was completely not expected! He gave me the particulars and said he was on his way home. By the time he got home we were in pretty good moods and were joking about how broke we are. Then...the reality set in, it got kind of scary and then we looked on the internet and found 5 jobs to apply for that he is 100% qualified for. Four are in Nevada and one is in Star Valley. We fasted today and both feel really good about it. Hopefully we will hear something from one of these jobs soon! P.S. We finally put a railing on our loft! It only took one child falling off it to get it up there too! Poor little Tommy! Happy birthday Tommy! I will have to post pics of his birthday later. Cute little guy.

We didn't get a chance to post last week because I had ward council before church and then we had the missionaries over for dinner after church.  That's always fun :)  It must seem like our kids are starved for attention because whenever anyone comes over, they always act crazy loco!

Well- I guess we should do a little update since it's been a couple weeks since we posted last.  It looks like the surgery/procedure Ryder had for sure worked in one eye, but not the other :(  So now we get to wait until he's a year old and then if it hasn't cleared on it's own he has to have a stent placed in his tear duct to hold it open and get rid of the blockage.  Hope it doesn't come to that, and that it clears up on his own, but we can only wait and see. 

Max turned 5!!  We decided a couple years ago that we were going to let our kids have big birthday parties only on certain Birthdays- 1,5,12,16, & 18.  It would be WAY too stressful to have to plan and carry out so many birthdays otherwise!!  So- this year was a Big Birthday for Max!  He wanted to have a LEGO party.  I am such a procrastinator and put everything off to the last minute!!  Then I was stressed out the day of the party trying to get everything done.  I need to be better about that for sure!  It was fun though, and I think the 10 little 4-5 year old boys that came had a good time too :) 

 

 

Ryder's been scooting/army crawling around EVERYWHERE!  I told the other kids that we have to make sure and keep the little things picked up off the floor now.

Levi has had a rough couple of weeks!!  He is undeniably a Crash Jr.!!  He was up on the counter looking for something in the cupboard while I was heating some water to make mac n cheese for lunch.  I turned around for one second to drain the water and in that second Levi lost his balance and landed on the burner that was still super hot!!  I heard him scream and knew exactly what had happened!!  He burnt his arm and hand pretty bad and I felt horrible!!  Why had I not gotten him down??!!  I immediately ran some water over his arm and he wouldn't move from the sink and wouldn't stop crying for about 45 minutes!  I finally convinced him that we needed to take him to the DR. to get it checked out.  I dropped the other kids off at a friends house and we went to the Urgent Care.  They said there wasn't much they could do, but it was good that we ran it under the water for so long.  They put some burn cream on it and wrapped it up really good.  Poor little guy!!  It is finally healed over enough not to be wrapped.  A couple days after he got burnt, we were going on an errand and he went to get in the car.  The little boys play a little game when they get in the car.  They like to climb in the very back and hide until I come to the car.  Well this time Levi flew over the back of the middle seat and instead of landing on the back seat like they usually do, he missed the seat and landed on a metal part of the bottom of the seat and got a big 'ol goose egg on his forehead!!  He's always running into things and getting hurt!  I'm afraid this little boy is going to take after his Daddy!

 

For mutual this week the kids played Soda Softball.  Taylor had a good time and said it might be a while before he'll want to drink a soda again!  Ha!

Tyler had the privilege (NOT!) of chaperoning the Homecoming Dance last weekend.  The teachers are required to chaperon one dance and one event each year.  I'm not sure what goes on at High School dances everywhere else, but from the things I've heard from people that have been to dances here, our kids will most likely not be allowed to go unless there are some major changes!  It's pretty sad actually.  Sad that the administrators won't do anything about what goes on and sad that parents probably have no idea!  Anyway- enough ranting about that....

Only one more week until Fall Break!! Yay!  This school year is going by fast already!  Pretty soon it will be Christmas! 

Wow!  This is getting to be a super long post, so I better stop before it gets out of hand!  HaHa!

Farewell to my tree

Thanks to Melanie for posting pictures of my tree removal..... which included a hole in my deck.  :(    I made the decision to have the whole tree taken out...it was just too scary to have to worry about it falling on my house.  I actually spent two nights in my upstairs family room after waking to violent winds assailing my house!  :)  I know, that may sound a little melodramatic, but it was really scary!  I don't think it is going to be as bad as I thought.  The tree they removed was growing up under the branches of the weeping willow, and the golden willow to the north...so, there isn't as much of a whole as I expected.  That being said, it was still a little sad.

I missed the broadcast of the General Women's Conference last night, so I watched it after church today.  I hope all of you got to see it.  It was so very good!  Did anyone else notice how old Pres. monsoon is looking since his wife died?  And, he is so sad.....kind of heartbreaking. 

We are having such crazy, cold windy weather.... I'm really hoping we get really nice Indian summer weather around the 11th and12th of Oct.  ( that is when we are going to Yellowstone)

I am posting some pictures for mother, because I forgot to help her put them on the blog.... She will probably update you on the tree situation, so I will just post the pictures without giving you any information! :)

As for how our week went, well.... it was pretty boring. :)  there were 2 days where I didn't even leave the house (or even open the door to the outside world). It was pretty cold/rainy so we didn't get to go on our walks. I secretly really enjoyed just cuddling my 2 babes and watching movies together. i made rolls and other comfort foods and debated listening to christmas music. I settled for Doris Day Pandora.

We got to watch Jack a few times and that was so fun for me and for Stori. they play really well together. Jack put music on while stori and I had dance parties. He also brought a sucker for Stori each day. 

Saturday, Dan hung out with Strori while mom, sylvie, and myself went shopping for 6 hours! It was a lot of fun! We hit up lot's of fun stores--just remembered that we forgot to go to Target. Blast! Next time.

Oh and I got my hair cut finally. I keep trying to tell myself that I'm suppose to have long hair because i had it most of my life---but once I cut it I remember how much better I like it short!

Wow this is a really boring post! :) I better stop now before you get a headache from reading such boring words that I put together.

Let this be said... I have the SASSIEST child in all the land. Astoria Rose Radford is definitely good at being 2!!! She could have a Masters degree in Terrible Two's! With that being said, we had a fantastic weekend in Utah! It was so fun to see megans new yellow house! Guys, it is gorgeous---you all need to come home and we can all take a trip to Utah together. We are hoping to go to stay with Aleisa sometime in October when all her boys go off hunting!
Dan was suppose to climb Mt. Borah with our ward, but it got canceled because of storms. So instead he got up and left Rexburg at 4 a.m. and went to photograph Jackson in the morning. He spent all day there and saw a lot of wildlife.
This week must have been fairly boring because I can't think of anything else we did. A lot of walks to the park, my first shopping trip to Walmart with just me and 2 kids, mom came and visited on Wednesday, and I made my first successful pie ever! "Megan's Famous Peach Pie!" :)

Dinner's in the Oven...

Dinner's in the oven (meatloaf- yum!) and I'm finally getting around to posting. 

Max went bowling with his preschool class on Thursday.  I was tending 2 extra kids that day so my friend who also has a son in the class took them.  She said he was really shy, but right before it was time to go he decided he wanted to try to bowl.  She also said he and his little friend ate their pizza under the table.  Must get his shyness from his momma :) 

Friday, everyone except Taylor (who had a bunch of tests at school and didn't want to miss them), headed to Phoenix for Ryder's eye procedure.  It took us about 4 hours to get there.  We dropped Jon, Max and Levi off at a friend's house that used to live here in Havasu and then headed to the Dr. office.  The Doc did a short eye exam and said that Ryder did have an obstruction in his tear ducts and that the procedure would help.  So we told him to go ahead and do it.  It took all of about 2 minutes, but Ryder was not very happy about it!  Poor little guy!  So glad it's done though!  This particular procedure has about a 90% success rate and it looks like it may have only been successful in 1 of Ryder's eyes.  We will know for sure next week when we stop the eye drops.  If it's still blocked then we have to wait it out until he's 1 to see if it clears up on it's own.  If not, then he will have to have surgery to put in a stent to hold the tear duct open for a while.  We're hoping it clears up on it's own!! 

We had planned to stay the night in Phoenix, but decided to save the money and just drive home.  The kids slept a good part of the drive and we were home by 9:00. When Saturday morning rolled around we were very glad that we had the 4 hr. drive already out of the way.

Taylor stayed the night at his friend's house and they had a merit badge activity Saturday morning.  He has 2 requirements left to earn his Second Class!  He's enjoying Boy Scouts, but has mentioned a couple of times how much work it is!

Well, that's our news for the week!  Hope we get to read about everyone else's!  :)

Happy Birthday Corey!

Today is Corey's 39th birthday......where does the time go?  I'm sure his family is spoiling him big time! Corey's birthday also means that Sept. is already half over......it seems that the days really do fly by!

This weekend Melanie, Stori, Sylvie and I went to Clarkston.  Joel was working , and Dan was supposed to climb Mt. Borah with his ward.  They cancelled the climb because of weather, but we were already on our way.....so, Dan made other plans.  Josh and Amanda had tickets to the USU Homecoming game, so they came too.  It was a lot of fun.  We went to the school where Aleisa works and she gave us a tour of her library!  It was so fun to see all of the things she has been doing.

We did a lot of shopping.....the looking kind, mostly.   :)  I went in to Best Buy to have my contacts switched from my ailing phone to Joel's old phone.  Well. that was a disaster!  The guy ended up deleting ALL of my contacts!  He claimed that they couldn't delete them, but delete them he did........ So, if you would all text me your name from your phone, it would be very helpful.  I need all of the kids' numbers too.  :)

We got home late last night with a couple of worn out little children, and a very tired mommy.  Way too much excitement!

A beautiful day for a baby blessing!

This week has been a little stressful.....  Chris called last Sunday , and the apples they thought would last through Labor Day ( at the fair) were gone!  I called Lynne, and she was nice enough to agree to help.  She also had her granddaughter come help us.  It took four hours to get the apples dipped  in caramel then the Apple pie and Snickers toppings.  Another day I worked fourteen hours.... then Thursday, I worked eleven and a half hours. The rest of the days were the normal nine hour shifts.  So glad Fair week is over!

I think Josh sent everyone the pictures of my door....  that was my Labor Day project.....I love it!  I don't know why I didn't think of paint before... I just thought I needed to get a new door.  I guess it was because I had redone the door once already.  I still have the other two doors to paint  :(   I have to get that done before winter!

Friday after work, I drove to Pocatello to meet Megan and Joel..... it was the LOTOJA. and I watched their boys for them.  Mel and Dan stayed Friday night to  help with the boys, and to help get the yard in order for the blessing of Sylvie June.....we also got a lot of the food started.  When Megan, Joel and the girls got back from the bike race, Melanie and Dan had to leave to spend time with his family,so, Megan and I got to work on the rest of the meal.  We somehow got the brilliant idea to make peach pies......   While Megan toiled away on the pies, I cleaned, and got the three salads going.   Well, by 2:30AM, we were just finishing up......  :)  Getting all of that done made today go so much smoother.  It turned out to be a near perfect day!  Dan gave Sylvie June a beautiful blessing!  AND the food was a hit!  Melanie made Penne  Rustica,  I made Grape Salad, Cookie Salad, and green salad, Amanda made a delicious banana cake and Megan made three fresh peach pies.  YUMMY! The weather was perfect....not too hot.  Well, by the time everyone was starting to leave, Josh gave us an update on a big storm that was coming in.  We got all of the tables, etc. put away just in time for it to hit..... all of our hard work down the drain once again...:(  My deck and lawn are covered with branches....oh well, like I said, it was a beautiful day!

This week we had two funerals in our ward.  Marie Bramwell and Sally Ellsworth.  Two very sweet ladies.  We will miss them so much!

It has been forever since you have heard from the Durst's. I am so bad i always get on to hear what everyone is up to and then I am not motivated to write.... Sorry! I will do better. In stead of trying to catch up i will just start with what is happening now :)

 Friday Night Lights have begun! Cole received a new position in football this year, he is tight end, and pretty much played the whole game. he is getting really good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We went camping at Suttle Lake Labor Day weekend. We almost didn't go and i am so glad we did. we went with 4 other families, and had to whole beach side to ourselves. Our campsite went right down to the water and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. (photos courtesy of Molly :) We had 2 ski boats 3 kyaks, and 1 canoe. and 21 kids! it was SOOO fun.

 Grace joined cross country this year and this was her first meet. she ran in the novice since it was her first race and there were over 200 girls. (can you find her???) the whole event had over 1000 kids it was pretty cool.

 And Soccer has begun.... so that means for the Durst's- sports Monday thru Saturday. It is the only season we do this. but it is absolutely crazy!!!

And we can't forget the BIG 50 miler that Scott and Cole went on. They survived and actually had a good time.
I started work 2 weeks ago and it is totally different than last year. really low key. I am a IA for the reading and Intervention program 3hrs. a day. So I can actually get things done. We went into Bauman Farms yesterday and she asked my ears were burning, they had just been talking about me and wanted to hire me full time.... I had to tell them i got a job at the school. I would love to work there,  it is one of my favorite places but you have to work weekends and don't get off till 5 or 6. That doesn't work for me right now...

I wish we could be there for Sylvie's big day. she will almost be a year old when we see her... And Cute little Ryder oh my goodness!! I just want to squish him. I am so glad some of you are still having babies. :)
